SWEET HOME, Ore.–  Scio’s Jack Forson once again made school history on Saturday at the Meet of Champions when he PR’d in the Pole Vault with a jump of 13-feet-7-inches.  And for the third time this year alone, he broke the school record in the jump in the process.
“I love it.  It’s pretty cool,” Forson starts.  “It really gave me some more confidence.  I think the confidence alone will help me keep going.”
With each jump at these heights, he’s getting used to working his mechanics and footwork with the bigger pole he has to maneuver in order to keep this momentum going.  The goal now, to close out his junior year ahead, is to work his way to the 15-foot mark.
“It’s huge. I can’t really do more reps, more practice on it.  It’s going to be the biggest thing,” Forson said.
Forson was one of four Logger athletes to have competed at the Meet of Champions on Saturday at Sweet Home High School.  Joining him was Syrus Diaz who finished 14th in the 800-meters.  Emma Thatcher finished 24th in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dashes.  Talen Peterson finished 14th in the Triple Jump
