PORTLAND, Ore.– Coming off a rough Spring season with the Silverton Baseball squad, incoming Foxes junior Colson Swartz found himself back in a groove with the Post 58 Crushers during the American Legion Triple-A season.
He, Swartz, contributed towards a 20-23 season that saw the Crushers win their first State Playoffs game since the 2013 season. Swartz had three hits on Sunday’s victory and collected five hits total and started at second base in the three games at the State Tournament. Rebuilding his confidence going into this next Spring with Silverton.
“I had a rough spring, so it felt great getting back into the groove this summer and getting back to reproducing. Always keep working and build off of what we’re doing here,” said Swartz.
The Summer itself has helped Swartz improve overall as a player. It better himself in terms of Baseball IQ.
“Just learning the IQ of the game and stuff. Knowing where to be, learning about bats, and watching guys ar-bats before so I know where to place myself. Just learning the game and just keep having fun,” said Swartz.
The Crushers finished Top 6 as a team in the American Legion State Playoffs.
