PORTLAND, Ore — Over the years, Silverton’s Wyatt Postlewait has slowly developed into the leader that he is today going into his freshman year at Mount Hood Community College.
He credits his development during the Summer in between his sophomore and junior year as the biggest moment that he had in that process. Cutting his teeth and putting in the work with the Post 58 Crushers out of Regis High School.
“I feel like my biggest jump as from sophomore year to junior year. I think getting my reps in over the Summer really helped me just tuning up some things and trying to help this team,” said Postlewait. “It’s been fun having guys rely on me and being able to help guys whenever I can. It’s been a lot of fun.”
Following his senior year, where he was a Mid-Willamette Conference second team selection as a catcher and helping the Silverton Baseball team reach the 5A State Playoffs, Postlewait went to work with the Crushers one more time.
He was the number one catcher for the Crushers, but split some time with Scotty Cummings (West Albany), Triston Garton (Scio) and Trey Cartensen (Silverton) that allowed some rest time coming off of the High School season.
The Crushers finished the season Monday, going 20-23 on the season and winning their first American Legion Triple-A State Playoff Game since the 2013 season.
“It’s been a fun summer. It’s a fun team, and it’s been fun to get reps in. My body’s tired, but we played a lot of games to get here,” said Postlewait. “I’m gonna take a break and then start tuning things up and get going again.”
