SILVERTON, Ore.–  Silverton’s Logan Uitto showed off his versatility as a junior last year for the Foxes Football team.
An All-League Selection on defense as a safety, offense as a receiver and on special teams as a Kick Returner, Uitto is looking to establish himself further as a senior and be one of those senior leaders with Silverton.
“I feel like we have a lot of leaders, I won’t say that I’m the only one.  We have a lot of people stepping up as leaders, and that’s the main thing.  Everyone here cares about each other,” said Uitto.  “It’s a great community. Everyone cares about High School sports, and everyone takes care of each other.  We always have a big crowd out here.  It’s a great community.
“I’ve been playing football here at Silverton my whole life since I was like four years old.   It’s always great to be a part of this great tradition and stay here in my hometown.”
With the dawn of his senior year on the horizon with his last first official practice on Monday, Uitto is looking forward towards helping the Foxes get back to the 5A State Semifinals, where they ended their season last year against Wilsonville, and maybe go a step further to the State Finals this Fall.
“Losing in the Semi-Finals isn’t easy. We’re using that as fuel to get a State Championship this year. It’s never easy coming off a loss like that,” said Uitto.   “I think we were focusing on the State Championship from the beginning of the season. We got to take it one game a time for sure.
“Just staying focused as a team and getting better every day and remembering that our loss that we had last year to use that as fuel for thos year.”
Silverton opens the season August  29 at Coeur D’Alene High School in Idaho.
