PORTLAND, Ore.–  This Summer has been one of those confidence boosters for McNary-grad Cash Martin pitching for the Post 58 Crushers in preparation for his freshman season with Chemeketa Community College.
“That I’m capable of a lot of things, that I’m more than I thought I was.  Just get in the weight room more and keep throwing,” said Martin of the Summer.
In his final outing of the season Monday with the Crushers, Martin had a one-hitter going through two innings and a two-hitter going through four against the Corvallis Marketmen on Day 3 of the American Legion Triple-A State Playoffs at Joe Etzel Field at the University of Portland. Martin finished the day pitching five-and-two-third innings.
Having played baseball since he was four years old, he held the game close to him.  His junior year with the Celtics was a highlight of his career so far as Martin looks to continue his playing career.
“It’s the best game ever invented,” Martin said of the game.  “(McNary) was fun, especially Junior Year, that was my favorite group.  It was a tough run my senior year, but it was still fun.”
