SALEM, Ore.– Dallas’ Harlow Nelson has an interesting start to her freshman year at Dallas High School.
The Freshman has been juggling softball with Track and Field and has been pretty successful with both. On Friday, Nelson helped the Dragons defeat West Albany 11-1 in six innings, drawing a walk in the victory. By Saturday, Nelson was out in West Salem competing at the Titan Track Classic in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes.
“It’s hard, but just going to track before softball and doing the extra workouts…I’m fine putting in the extra work between both,” said Nelson.
Nelson finished second in the 100-meter dash on Saturday with a time of 12.88, finishing 0.06 off of Ella Bulkley of 3A’s Catlin Gabel. Nelson also won the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.18.
“I think I did pretty good. The head wind, there was a lot, but it was pretty good,” Nelson said of her races. “Just putting more work in, especially with starts and stuff. Like on the weekends, when I don’t have softball and stuff. (The starts Saturday) were ok, the 100 weren’t the best, but the 200 was pretty good.”
