SALEM, Ore.– Scio-grad and Lane Community College sophomore Kadence Soto hasn’t skipped a beat from her days playing with the Loggers into her college career.
After collecting 415 assists as a freshman as a Setter for the Titans, Soto picked up where she left off at. And pretty quickly into her sophomore season with Lane Community College, Soto surpassed the 500 career assists milestone. She isn’t done yet as she’s creeping up on 700 career assists coming down the stretch of her JuCo career, sitting currently at 641 career assists following the Titans 25-16, 25-23, 25-22 sweep of Chemeketa Community College on Wednesday night in Salem.
Lane has seen improvement from last season. The confidence is there, so is the bond as the Titans have more than doubled up their win-total from 2024 to this year with four last year and currently have nine with seven games remaining in the regular season. It’s leaving a positive vibe for Soto as she waits and see what is on the horizon for her beyond this year.
“It was really big, especially coming off of last season. We didn’t have the strongest season overall, so coming into this year and starting off way stronger, we’re winning a lot more games, we got a lot more better connection with each other, it feels awesome,” said Soto of the milestone. “Tonight, we had a lot more energy. We were swinging a lot more, we had a lot more confidence overall. We’ve been working on having confidence and trusting each other, and I think that showed up tonight.
“It’s been awesome, especially being more successful this year. It’s been amazing, and hopefully moving forward if I go on to a four-year, hopefully taking this experience and growing on with it. Just remembering the time, with us winning a lot more this year, it’s been so much fun,” Soto adds of her sophomore season. “I grew up watching my sister play, and I knew from four-years-old, and knowing since I was little that I want to play at this level and now being here. It’s been a dream come true. I wish I could tell my little self that we made it, and it means so much to me.”
Lane will return home Friday in Eugene to play Umpqua Community College before heading to play Clark on October 24.
