SALEM, Ore.–  The Chemeketa Community College Women’s Soccer team is once again off to a hot start in the NWAC South Region.
Following their 3-1 victory over Lane on Friday afternoon, the Storm are 3-0-1 in the Region.
With their intensity, Chemeketa led 1-0 at the halftime break thanks to a goal by Izzy Flores (South Salem).  Mira Thorton (Beaverton) and Bethany Villegas (McNary) scored a goal each in the second half to push the Storm’s lead to 3-0 by the 78th minute before the Titans from Lane broke the shutout with around ten minutes to play.
“It was something.  We’re trying to really, really get into the mentality of we want to win first, but play smart and not trying to get anyone hurt,” starts Flores.  “We’re all just trying gather up and hype for the game, and we came in and did that.”
Chemeketa held strong.  Holding the Titans to that goal in the closing minutes to seal the 3-1 victory.  Ella Holwege (Corbett) made nine saves for the Storm, who will look to continue their strong season Wednesday against Umpqua Community College.
“Us just having that mindset that every game is a new game, and every game is a final, I think that’s going to seperate us for the rest of the season, just making sure that we’re prepared for what’s to come,” said Luciane Wentz.
