Cross Country Round-Up

Several local Salem-area athletes took part in the Ash Creek Invitational, Stayton Cross Country Invitational and the Gervais Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

Here’s a Round-Up:

Ash Creek Invitational
MONMOUTH,  Ore. –Dallas’ Amber Green and Avery Hoffman finished eighth and ninth respectively at the Ash Creek Invitational on Saturday.   West Salem’s Madelyn (13th), Sprague’s Jovi Johnson (16th) and Central’s Annika Baltzley (20th) finished in the Top 20 in the Girls Varsity 5K race.
On the boys side,  the Central Valley Conference trio of South Salem’s Kayden Bejar (seventh), Sprague’s Michael Hudgins (eighth) and McNary’s Jaxsen Herring (ninth) finished in the Top 10.  West Salem’s David Goodwin finished 13th and the Olympians Anderson Webb finished 14th in the race.

Stayton XC Invitational
STAYTON, Ore. —  Stayton saw Brandon Wagner win the Varsity Boys 5K race with Eagles teammate Carter Rudishauser finishing seventh.  Crosshill Christian’s Easton Zorn finished tenth.
In the Girls 5K Race, Stayton saw Presely Monninger (sixth), Ruby Strawn (seventh) and Laela Hunt (tenth) finished in the Top 10 with Crosshill Christian’s Corina Phillips finishing ninth.

Gervais Invitational
GERVAIS. Ore.–  Scio’s Aniyah Klindtworth finished third in the race with Willamina’s Aleena Leno finishing 13th.  Melany Pineda was the highest finishing Gervais runner, finishing 22nd.
In the Boys race, Syrus Diaz finished fifth with Oregon School for the Deaf’s Jorryn Freeman finishing eighth with a PR time of 19:57.80.  Willamina’s Kayleb Rankin (16th), Perrydale’s Colten Barcroft (19th) and Gervais’ Angel Santos (20th) finished in the Top 20.
