MEDFORD, Ore.– Damon Lawrence really had a strong sophomore campaign for the Sweet Home Baseball team this past Spring.
He was the lone Huskie to earn first-team Oregon West Conference honors while earning Third-team All-State selections as an Outfielder while helping Sweet Home to a 11-14 record in 2026.
“I started the year really strong and really hot and then I hit into a slump. I learned to keep my head up through the hard times and did my job slowly. When league hit, I slowly worked my way back up,” saod Lawrence.
That slump helped the incoming Huskie junior mentally and was something he carried into the Summer playing as a member of the Wellcare, formerly Withnell, Dodgers. Playing in the outfield, Lawrence was a steady hand hovered around being the Dodgers first or second hitter in the lineup.
He was part of a Dodgers program thjs Summer that snapped a 62-game losing streak and reached the State Playoffs for the first time since the 2023 season.
“I did my part slowly. It was momentum, keeping their heads up and not letting the past define us and shock the world. It was a brand new season,” said Lawrence.
This summer helped developed Lawrence and gave him the insight on how he can improve going into the Fall and Winter.
“Right now, I’ve been pulling my head and getting ahead of myself in the box. Just letting the ball travel is what I need to work on, ” said Lawrence.
