SWEET HOME, Ore.– In his second year ever doing Track and Field, Dayton’s Alejandro Magana found himself on the big stage that is the Meet of Champions on Saturday morning.
Throwing Javelin in a stack field, Magana took it as motivation instead of intimidation and turned it into a PR for himself.
He finished third with a PR throw of 148-feet-7-inches.  Finishing behind Santiam Christian’s Jordan Ness, who finished second, and Philomath’s Josiah Peters, who won the event with a throw of 181-feet-2-inches.
“Just seeing those guys throw.  It kind of pushed me to try to get up there and throw a little further today.  Better competition.  It’s awesome, I love this meet.  A lot of good people and athletes, it’s pretty nice,” Magana said.  “Last year was my first year, so this year is just coming out, getting up there, I’m swinging for State,”
Dayton aso saw Erick Chinchilla placethird in the 300-meter hurdles and fourth in the 110-meter hurdles.
Hadley Hughs won the Javelin and Discus and finished sixth in the Shot Put.  Nora Shepherd won the Triple Jump, finshed tied for second in the High Jump and finished fourth in the Long Jump
