SALEM, Ore.–  Central’s Jack Holestine once again why he’s a major headache for opposing defenses.
Against Sprague at the Capitol City Classic, the senior Panther went off for 24 points to lead Central over the Olympians 73-64 to advance to the CCC Consolation Semifinals on Monday.  The game came off of his 31 point output Friday night against Ruston of Louisiana
Having played the sport since the fourth grade, the hard work he’s putting in has been paying off in a big way the last few years.
He and his fellow seniors are hoping to leave their mark for those coming up behind them after this year is up.
“It’s been my whole life.  I’ve been working on my game since fourth grade and it’s my everything.   I go there and try to give my 110-percent,” starts Holestine.   “We have seven or eight seniors, but we have a lot of younger guys  like my little brother, he’s a freshman.  Cooper Larson, he’s a sophomore, so just setting the example for them has been really big, so they can come in next year.”
Central plays Thurston on Monday, a repeat of their first game of the year down at Thurston back on December 3.  They’re hoping having played them once before will help them in the rematch as they look to make it two-in-a-row in the win column.
“It taught us that we have to play faster.  We only had like 40 possessions in that game and the next game against North Medford we had like 75,” said Holestine. “We learned that we’re not a half-court team, we have to play in transition.”
The game is scheduled for 2:30pm at Willamette University.

Ryan Burgett contributed 14 points, Lucas Haines (12) and Tyler Olafson (10) scored in double-figures for the Panthers.

Elijah Schmidt led Sprague with 17 points and Tayshawn Juarez contributed another 16 points .  The Olympians will play Western Christian on Monday at 11:30am at Willamette University.
