Several local wrestling teams were at North Bend, the Rose City Classic and the Gary McDaniel Memorial Tournament this past weekend. Here’s a Round-Up:
North Bend Classic
COOS BAY, Ore. –The North Salem Boys Wrestling team finished seventh at the Classic with 113.5 team points. Yandel Basham won the 106 pound title. Deacon Odom (165) finiahed fourth, Steven Lantry finished fifth at 126 pounds and Abraham Reyna (190) finished sixth as placers for the Vikings.
North Marion’s Henry Bankhead finished fourth at 138. Stayton’s Leonardo Michel finished second at 150. West Salem Kit Shinkle finished fourth at 215
North Bend Classic Girls Tournament
COOS BAY, Ore.– The North Salem Girls Wrestling team finished second as a team at the Classic with seven placers in the tournament. North Salem’s Diana Hernandez won the 125 pound title. Aileen Paniagua finished second on the 105 pound bracket.
The West Salem Girls Wrestling team finished eighth as West Salem’s Sophia Zuniga won the 235 pound title.Mia Olson finished second at 155 pounds and Olivia Nunez finished sixth at 145 pounds.
Cascade’s Alexis Cruz also finished second at 110 pounds.
Rose City Championships
BEAVERTON, Ore.– Cascade’s Jack Mulvahill (106), Hans Kamm (165) and Matthew Hinkle (215) all won titles at the Championships. The Cougars Griffin Copple (190) finished third. Landon Morris (106) finished fourth. Jonas Camillo finished sixth at 138.
Willamina’s Landon Risseeuw finished fourth at 285. Dallas’Carson Langford finished second at 215.
War of the Roses
BEAVERTON, Ore.– Dallas’ Jenna Rogers (145), Khadijah Tabib (170) finished third at 145 pounds at the War of the Roses as six Dragon wrestlers placed.
Willamina’s Paige Baker finished fifth at 190 pounds. Sprague’s Evelyn Wirfs finished sixth at 170 pounds.
Gary McDaniel Tournament
SCIO, Ore.– The Scio Boys Wrestling team finished second at the Gary McDaniel Memorial Tournament on Saturday. Jack Forson (138), Arley Lebard (165) won titles. Hunter Davis (157)finished second
Kennedy’s Bohden Sowa (150) and Creo Walker (215) won titles as the Trojans finished sixth as a team. Gervais finished seventh as a team. Jose Santos (106). Brayden Lucero finished second at 285.
Sheridan’s Conner Trammell finished second at 215. Jefferson’s Hunter Furlong finished third at 113 pounds. Santiam’s Anthony Wisner finished second at 144 pounds.
Gary McDaniel Memorial Tournament Girls Tournament
SCIO, Ore.–The Jefferson Girls wrestling team finished fifth as a team. The Lions Ellery Bundy finished second at 155 pounds.
The Sheridan Girls Wrestling team finished sixth. Peylinn Childress won the 115 pound title
Kennedy’s Anfissa Alagoz won the 120 pound title. Scio’s Olivia Christie won the 130 pound title
