Meagan Trissel was named to the first team, All-State.  Last year, it was as an infielder, and this year, as a First Baseman as the Logger-graduate prepares now for her freshman year at Chemeketa Community College.
The honor came off the heels of Scio winning their first-ever 3A State Championship Title a little over a month ago.
“It’s really cool…it’s really cool this year because they changed it, it’s first baseman instead of infield, so there’s only one All-State First Baseman in all of 3A, so it was pretty cool getting that,” Trissel said of the honor.  “(Winning the State Championship) was so reliving. we were working at it for so long, and to finally get it all clicked into the right thing, there’s no other feeling like it.”
Trissel went straight back to work in preparation for this next season and making sure she’s ready for her freshman year with the Storm.  Chemeketa was coming off a NWAC Playoff run that saw them go 1-2 in the NWAC Championship Playoffs back in May.  Playing with the Oregon Titans 18U squad, Trissel contributed towards a Titans 18U State Title Run on Sunday that saw Trissel go 3-for-6 and playing first base for the Titans in the two games that they had played in on Sunday at the Maple Street Park in Canby.
On the team this weekend, and even last weekend over at Wallace Marine Park in Salem, were College athletes coming off of their freshman year’s at their respective colleges.  For Trissel, she’s been using the opportunity to learn from those athletes as well as working on her craft as a ballplayer.
“It’s so fun.  It’s so nice playing with some people who’ve already played in college because you can just learn from them and ask them questions and all that kind of stuff.  We’re such a fun team. We’re good, and we’re winning, and it’s a blast,” describes Trissel.  “This summer, I’ve been working on seeing different types of pitchers.  So adjusting to new pitchers and making the adjustments fast is what I’ve been really working on.”
West Albany-grad and incoming Clackamas Community College sophomore Taylor Thompson drove in three runs for the Titans and had four hits for the Titans on the day.  Mckinley Ermshar struck out 16 batters for the Oregon Titans in the Championship Title run.
