SALEM, Ore.–  The Sprague Football team closed out their Spring Football schedule with a fun little Mom’s Clinic at the end of Wednesday’s practice at Sprague High School.
The Olympian football players coached their mom’s through a few drills and had them run through a play or two before ending the clinic with the mom’s tackling their son’s,
“It’s very fun.  It’s good to give back. The women in our program are the backbone of our program.  I’ll say that with any High School program, but we just want to give an opportunity to honor them and let them have a fun experience involved with football and let them see what their kids go through.  We let them go through position drills that their kids play and let them have a chance to tackle their son at the end of the night.
“It’s a fun event. We really enjoy it.”
The event capped just the start of the Sprague journey in laying the foundation for what they’re hoping is another strong season this upcoming year.  Returning from their 9-2, 6A State Quarterfinal squad going into Summer includes Owen Livingston, who was the Olys starting Right Guard last season, is returning, and is expected to contribute on both sides of the ball.  Emmett Hunsaker and Max Knapp are looking to take the next step on the line as juniors after getting a year of Varsity underneath them last year.  Carter Lovell is contending for the Starting Quarterback spot after the graduation of Dukatti Witherspoon, Lovell was also a defensive starter for Sprague this past year as a junior just to name a few kids entering the Summer training season.
“We have 30 seniors, we have a pretty big junior class.  The kids who are going to be sophomores were undefeated on the freshman team last year, I really like our depth. We have a lot of really good players in the program,” said Robinson.
Sprague heads to Linfield University this next week before having some 7-on-7 scrimmages going into Fall Camp in August.
