SILVERTON, Ore.– Silverton made do with the situation with one of their ten Spring Practice days on Monday evening.
Originally scheduled to be a scrimmage with Forest Grove, the heat had other plans. But the Foxes went to work on the grass field next to McGinnis Field and used the shade from the tree line to shadow them from the heat of the early June day to get in their ninth Spring Football session in.
After graduating roughly 25 seniors from last season’s 5A State Semi-Final appearance, Silverton’s taking full advantage of these reps to make sure that the foundation will be set moving into their Summer training and eventually in Fall Camp and the season ahead.
“We’re getting a lot of reps. We’re out here doing our best and getting those extra reps. We have some great young guys who are coming up. We have a lot of great skills guys. A great line, they’re pretty young, but we should be very good, I’d say,” said Nash Moser.
Moser, along with Colson Swartz and Lincoln Teeney, to name a few, return from that Final Four squad. They’ll be looked to as leaders of this squad to help fill the void left by those seniors. That too served as a good foundation layer for the squad moving forward as those new leaders look to find their voice and build that confidence going into what’s ahead.
“It’s going to be really good, I’m going to have to do as much as I can at Summer stuff and really show the younger guys what it means to be here and be there for the team,” said Moser.
The Foxes close out their summer slate on Tuesday when they travel to Stayton to play the Eagles in a scrimmage at 4:30pm.
