SWEET HOME, Ore.– Delphian’s Oli Beauregard had himself a busy 12, 18-hour stretch when it comes to the Track and Field world. Beauregard, who was a 2A State Runner-Up in the 110-meter hurdles last season with a fourth-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles and an eighth-place finish in the 100-meter dash last Spring, finished third in the 110-meter hurdles with a PR time of 14.99 at the Jesuit Twilight Meet on Friday night. Then the Dragon sophomore turned around to win the 110-meter hurdles at the Meet of Champions Saturday afternoon in the 110-meter hurdles.
“It felt pretty good, but I think I messed up a bit since yesterday with one of my hurdles. Other than that, I felt good about it,” said Beauregard.
The pressure of the meets, especially the last two in Beaverton and Sweet Home, will help the 2A Hurdler in the long haul as he aims to return to Hayward Field at the end of the season. Some say pressure, that good kind of pressure, drives athletes to be the best that they can be. And Beauregard knows it will do the same with him. That and the help of 2024 Delphian-grad Lucas Curry is something that the Dragon Track athlete is hoping will lead to more success this year.
“Honestly, it’s the pressure. The pressure of the big meets, it helps a lot with competing at the high-level,” starts Beauregard. “My coach, Lucas (Curry), has helped me a lot with the hurdles also. He’s a big role model to me.”
Beauregard had a full-slate of events on Saturday at the Meet of Champions. Besides the 110-meter hurdles, Beauregard finished second in the 200-meter hurdles, finished second in the 300-meter hurdles with a PR time of 40.15, and helped Delphian to a third-place finish in the 4×400 meter relay.
Other Dragon placers include Cato Matsuoka, who finished fourth in the 100-meter dash with a PR time of 11.29. Avery Ott finished eighth in the 400-meter race. Liv Curry finished third in the High Jump
