The Salem Sports and Breakfast Club OlsenDaines Senior Athlete of the Year from South Salem Baseball is Teagan Scott.
Teagan, a four-year varsity starter and team captain, was a standout catcher for the Saxons, who finished the season 19-9 overall and captured the Central Valley Conference championship with a 7-2 league record.
One of the most decorated players in South Salem baseball history, Teagan earned first-team all-league honors in all four years of his career. He was named Central Valley Conference Player of the Year as both a sophomore and a senior. He also earned all-state recognition three straight seasons, including second-team honors as a freshman and first-team honors as both a sophomore and junior. With all-state selections for 2026 still pending, his body of work leaves little doubt he belongs among the state’s elite once again.
Teagan leaves South Salem holding numerous program records, including career marks for hits, doubles, walks, and several catching categories. He also ranks second all-time in stolen bases behind teammate Sawyer Nelson.
In addition to his success on the baseball field, Teagan was a standout multi-sport athlete for the Saxons, earning four Salem Sports and Breakfast Club Athlete of the Week honors between baseball and basketball. Earlier this year he was also recognized as the SSBC Senior Athlete of the Year for Boys Basketball.
Teagan plans to attend Oregon State University next year, where he will continue to build on an already remarkable athletic and academic career.

This season, when boys volleyball has become an official OSAA sanctioned sport, he helped lead the Saxons to a perfect 16-0 conference record, the conference championship, the number one ranking in the state, and a 21-2 final record.
Traditionally a libero, Logan made the transition to outside hitter this season to give South Salem more offensive firepower — a move that proved to be a game changer. He finished the season with 296 kills on 576 attacks for an outstanding .413 hitting percentage while averaging 5.1 kills per set. He also contributed 194 digs, 23 aces, and 16 blocks while excelling in serve receive with a 2.40 rating out of 3 on 213 attempts with only four errors.

Logan earned Salem Sports and Breakfast Club Athlete of the Week earlier this season and now adds Senior Athlete of the Year recognition to an already remarkable resume. His leadership, versatility, and competitive spirit helped establish South Salem as one of the premier boys volleyball programs in the state.

The Salem Sports and Breakfast Club Les Schwab Athlete of the Week from South Salem Boys Tennis is Josiah Smith.
Josiah, a senior and team captain for the Saxons, put together an outstanding season, compiling a 16-3 overall record while remaining undefeated in league play.
At the Central Valley Conference District Tournament held at Salem Tennis and Swim, Josiah captured his first district singles championship while also helping South Salem secure its first boys team district title in more than a decade. He followed that performance with a strong showing at the OSAA State Championships, advancing to the consolation quarterfinals before narrowly falling 9-7 to a player from Newberg.
Head coach James Heyen praised Josiah not only for his play on the court, but also for the leadership and character he displayed throughout his career. After winning his district singles final, Josiah immediately turned his attention to supporting his teammates, cheering on South Salem’s top doubles team through a dramatic final-set tiebreaker that ultimately clinched the district championship for the Saxons.
Coach Heyen noted that Josiah consistently modeled the sportsmanship, leadership, and exemplary character that South Salem Tennis values so highly. Whether celebrating victories or consoling teammates after difficult losses, Josiah always put the team first.

The Salem Sports and Breakfast Club Les Schwab Athlete of the Week from West Salem Baseball is Conrad Sotelo.
Conrad delivered a dominant performance on the mound against South Medford, throwing a complete-game shutout over 7 innings while allowing just 2 hits.
Conrad has been a part of West Salem varsity baseball since being called up midway through his sophomore season to play third base and pitch. Last year he earned first-team all-league honors as a relief pitcher before transitioning into a starting role this season. He continued to excel, once again earning first-team all-league recognition after posting a 3.50 ERA with a 5-5 record, one save, and 50 strikeouts.
In the classroom, Conrad has been equally impressive. He carries a perfect 4.0 GPA and a 4.18 weighted GPA while taking multiple AP classes throughout his high school career. This fall he plans to attend Baylor University to study finance.
Head coach Taylor Blair describes Conrad as “a phenomenal teammate, a program guy, and someone who always does what needs to be done.” A motivated and highly competitive student-athlete, Conrad’s leadership and presence will certainly be missed both on the field and in the locker room.
