CORVALLIS, Ore.– Silverton’s Wyatt Metzger was on a mission in the 100-meter dash at the Mid-Willamette Conference District Meet.
The Senior, In the 100-meter dash prelims on Wednesday, seeded himself number one for the finals after running a personal best 10.86.
He wasn’t done yet
On Friday, in the finals, he PR’d once more with a District Title Winning time of 10.74. Not bad for a kid who’s been battling and working through a Hamstring injury dating back to last season.
“It was pretty good, I’ve been battling a lot of injuries this year. I haven’t done as good in the 100, but this was great. I just feel blessed,” Metzger said. “It feels amazing.
And of note. He broke the school record in both races. Breaking Derek Newsom’s 2007 record time of 10.94 on Wednesday and then his current time now.
“It’s pretty crazy. I feel blessed man,” Metzger said, who also won the 200-meter District Title as well.
He wasn’t the only one who broke records at the MWC District Meet. Lexi Enzenberger broke the 100-meter dash time with a time of 12.45 in the prelims of the race. Enzenberger finished fourth in the finals of the event with a time of 12.54 on Friday. Megan Wavra broke the freshman record in the 200-meter race as well with a time of 26.08.
The District Title win by Metzger was part of the Foxes winning the Team Title with 171 team points. Some notables from the team win include Talon Ulven finishing District Runner-Up with a PR time of 15.44 in the 110-meter hurdles. The Foxes Boys 4×100 meter relay team won the District Title. In the field events, Mark Bailey finished District Runner-Up in the Shot Put. Ben Morris won the Javelin District Title. Caden Druliner and Sam Haugen went one-two in the High Jump. Druliner also finished District Runner-Up in the Long Jump. Edward Kreitzer won the Pole Vault District Title.
The Silverton Girls Track and Field team finished third as a team with their 4×400 meter relay team finishing District Runner-Up. Madelyn Ehrens and Ellenor Moore went one-two in the Shot Put. Scout Haugen finished District Runner-Up in the High Jump.
