AMITY, Ore.–  Coming off of a strong freshman year that saw her qualify for the 2A State Track and Field Meet in the 100-, and 300-meter hurdles, placing in both, Delphian’s Lily Olivares has been working towards a repeat performance in the hurdles this Spring.
The sophomore has been working on her speed with the 100 and 200-meter dashes.  Olivares finished second in the 100-meter dash at the Amity Invitational.
“I can work on my start a little more (on the 100-meter dash), but I like to have the competition, it’s so helpful. They (the 100 and 200) have helped me a lot in being able to find my pace and sprint between those hurdles is really useful. It definitely helped me out,” said Olivares.
All the while continuing her dominance in the hurdles, where she finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles at the Invitational on Saturday.
“I was so happy that I made it to State last year for all my events, I was really proud.  It really pushed me to know that I can achieve better things at State and get those Gold Medals,” said Olivares.

The Dragons saw three School records fall in Amity.
Liv Curry broke the school record in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.87, good enough for first-place in the meet.  That went with her fourth-place finish in the 300-meter hurdle finish and first-place finish in the High Jump.
Mark DeVries broke the school record in the Long Jump with a jump of 21-feet-4.75-inches, good enough for first-place.   DeVries also finsihed second in the Triple Jump and helped the 4×100-meter relay to a second-place finish at Saturday’s Amity Invitational.

Vadym Pushkin broke the school record in the Discus with a PR throw of 117-feet-8-inches.  Pushkin finished seventh in the event.
