AMITY, Ore.– It is hard to imagine that Amity’s Jaxson Howard is still coming off an ankle injury suffered a few months ago.
On Saturday, at the Amity Invitational,  Howard threw a Personal Best, and School Record, in the Hammer with 188-feet-6-inches.  Just about a month back in his return.
For the CSU-Northridge-commit, it’s a nice feeling to perform that well in the event, but knows he has a lot to work on as he gets back in the groove of things.
“I’m really happy that I get part of this senior season.  It’s important to me to be able to give my community something to watch after they supported me all these years.  I’m just happy to have this Senior Season,” said Howard.  “I’m throwing Discus around a little bit, I think I’ll be very happy if I make it in State in that….I’m not too close to the end, I think I’m warming up.”
Willamina’s Billy Deloe, who’s Howard’s teammate with the Amity Track Club during the Summer, too broke the school record in the Hammer on Saturday. The sophomore threw a 154-feet-10-inches, good for second in the event.
“It means so much to me to be able to get out here and throw in a Willamina jersey…I love the Amity Track Club, but it means so much to throw a PR in my school jersey,” said Deloe.  “(The footwork) is everything about the throw.  Your footwork is what your speed is and your strength is.  Speed, strength and development…the power/”
Deloe also finished seventh in the Discus.
Trenton Ruston finished second in the 200-meter dash and third in the 400-meter race.  Simon Dick finished third in the 300-meter hurdles. The Amity Boys 4×400-meter relay team finished second.  Ethan Owings won the High Jump with a PR jump of six-feet
Bradley Sexton finished second in the 100-meter dash. and won the 400-meter race.  Ella Hatch finished fourth in the 100-meter dash and was third in the 300-meter hurdles.  Adaclara Fifield finished second in the Hammer
\Willamina’s Katrina Huff finished third in the 100-meter dash and second in the 200-meter dash.
