SALEM, Ore.– This moment on Wednesday afternoon was a long-time coming for Blanchet senior Christian Orozco.
He’s seen people he’s looked up to do it, to sign and continue their playing career. Orozco was inspired to do the same one day.
Over the last four years leading to this moment he was at, Orozco was like a jack-of-all-trades kind of player for the Cavaliers. He played Goalie. He played Midfielder. He played Forward. Orozco probably would be a player-coach if the rules allowed it. He did a lot to help the program and left it all out there with passion and determination in the process.
“I think it helped me get to where I got because of what the field players are going through when I am a goalkeeper,” said Orozco. “It helped me to lead and to point them in the right direction and understanding what they’re having to do, it helped me understand.”
He believes that experience will help him as he heads into his next season with Corban University. On Wednesday, he signed his letter of intent to play soccer for the Warriors as a goalkeeper. A surreal moment for Orozco as he watched his dreams become reality.
“It’s surreal. I was just thinking about it last night, I’ve seen people I’ve looked up to get to this moment. It’s huge for me. It’s something I’ve always wanted. I’m really thankful and excited for what’s to come,” said Orozco.
Orozco is planning on majoring in Business while attending Corban University.
