Track and Field Round-Up

Several Salem-area schools took part in the Oregon Relays, the Mid Valley Dental Invitational in Dallas and the Neah-Kah-Nie Invitational this past weekend.

Here’s the Round-Up:

Oregon Relays
EUGENE, Ore.–Central’s Ty Cirino won the 3,000-meter race with a time of 8:28.46 and was fourth in the 3,200-meter race and was fourth in the 2-mile race.  Central’s Aidan Wendring won the 2K Steeplechase with a time of 5:59.02, a PR for the junior. McNary’s Derek Olivo won the Javelin with a PR throw of 193-feet-2.75 inches.  South Salem’s Calvin Stewart broke the school record in the high jump with a jump of 6-feet-9.75-inches.
Sprague’s Dylan Henthorne finished fifth in the 100-meter dash in the freshman race with a PR time of 11.42.  McNary’s Yosaf Picazo finished sixth in the Varsity 800 Meter race with a PR time of 1:55.30.
McNary’s Iyana Contreras finished fourth in the Varsity freshman race with a PR time of 12.89.


Mid Valley Dental Invitational
DALLAS, Ore.–Falls City’s Chris Sickles finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles.  Dallas’ Sean Ward finished second in the 300-meter hurdles. Ward also won the High Jump with a PR and school record, jumping six-feet-seven-inches.
Dallas’ Jordan Braziel finished second in the Shot Put and Discus.  The Dragons Israel Mabry finished second in the Javelin.

Girls Track and Field
Dallas’ Amber Green won the 800-meter race  with a PR time of 2:23.56 and also won the 1,500-meter race. Kelsey Rodli won the 3,000-meter race.  Tanya Green and Merced Wars went one-two in each the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles.  Elizabeth Walker won the high jump with a jump of 4-feet-10-inches.
Harlow Nelson finished third in the 100 – and 200-meter dashes.

Neah-Kah-Nie Invitational

NEAH-KAH-NIE, Ore.–  McKay’s Dylan Ortega won the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles on Saturday.   The Scots 4×100 meter relay team finished third.  Jefferson’s Andrew Keena finished third in the Javelin with a throw of 143-feet-7-inches, a PR for the senior.  Keena also finished second at the High Jump.   Scio’s Jack Forson finished second at the Pole Vault.  Jefferson’s Dimetrius Rodriguez won the Long Jump with a PR jump of 20-feet-6-inches and the Triple Jump with a jump of 39-feet-7-inches.

McKay’s Allison Reynolds finished third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.62, a PR.  Reynolds also finished sixth in the 300-meter hurdles. McKay’s Jasmin Hernandez finished second in the Pole Vault with a jump of 7-feet-6-inches, a PR.
