Several local Salem-area teams were in action this past weekend at tournaments. Here’s a Round-Up of the action:
Screaming Eagle Tournament
ADAIR VILLAGE, Ore.– The Scio Boys Wrestling team finished fourth as a team with 140.5 team points at the Screamin’ Eagle Tournament. Colton Medeiros (175) won his weight class and Riley Harmon (106) finished second to lead the Loggers, who had eight placed in the tournament.
Regis’ Andrew Bischoff (113), Josh Crowell (126) finished second. Eli Bischoff finished third at 175, the Rams finished tenth as a team.
Amity finished 11th. Cameron Dewees was the highest finisher for the Warriors at fourth at 113 pounds.
The Golden Yams
YAMHILL, Ore.– The Willamina Boys Wrestling team finished second as a team with 163.5 team points. Jacob Bazzy (157), Bodhi Baller (190) and Landon Risseeuw (285) finished second to anchor the Bulldogs.
The North Marion Boys Wrestling team finished fourth as a team with Gyovanny Rios (106), Henry Bankhead (132) and Jesus Tarula (215) winning titles to anchor the Huskies.
Jefferson’s Evan Wise won the 144 pound title. Kyler Ware finished third at 175 pounds
Girls Golden Yam Challenge
YAMHILL, Ore.– The Jefferson Girls Wrestling team finished fourth as a team. Kyana Kendall, Aurora Winter (145) finished second to lead the Lions.
Willamina’s Kelsea Gray (190) and Paige Baker (190) won their respective weight classes to help anchor a Bulldog squad that finished seventh as a team.
Reser’s Tournament of Champions
SHERWOOD, Ore.– Dallas’ Carson Langford finished second at 190 pounds at the Reser’s Tournament of Champions on Saturday.
Tualatin Invitational
TUALATIN, Ore.–The Silverton Boys Wrestling team finished second as a team with 209.5 team points. Zachary Purdy (165), Ryder VanDeweghe (190) won titles to lead the Foxes.
South Salem’s Damian Zaragoza (157) finished second and Bridger Haider (150) finished third to lead a Saxons squad to a 12th-placr finished
West Salem’s Ryder Nelson (175) finishdd third, Christian Apling finished fourth at 165. The Titans finished 14th as a team.
Joe Stewart Invitational
MILWAUKIE, Ore.– McNary’s Seelah Platkoff (120) won his bracket. Seth Patton finished third at 150 to help anchor a Celtic squad that finished tenth.
Gervais’ Brayden Lucero won the 285 pound title. Jose Santos (106) and Angel Cortes (175) finished third to help the 2A Cougars to a seventh-place finish. Woodburn’s Leonardo Vasquez (132) and Diego Hernandez (175) finished second,Iberaldo Calmo (126) finished third to help the Bulldogs to a sixth-place finish.
In the Girls Tournament, the McNary Girls Wrestling team finished fourth as a team. Sahara Martinez (105) and McKenna Unger (155) each won their weight classes. Citlati Perez (130) finished third to help lead the Celtics.
