SILVERTON, Ore.– The Silverton Boys Basketball team revved up the energy going into the second half of their 65-57 victory over Mountain View on Sunday afternoon.
Trailing the Cougars 34-33 going into the second half of what was a competitive contest, they took the lead after back-to-back three-pointers and sustained that energy going forward. Even when Mountain View tied things up at 45 late in the third quarter, the Foxes pulled ahead going into the fourth leading 49-45. Giving Silverton some wind in their sails going into the fourth quarter.
“They came out in zone and we diced it and I’m really proud of my team. We were looking at the post and hitting our wings when they’re open,” said Sam Haugen of the second half. “(This game) will help a lot, we’re in a tough league , it’s gonna be battle like this game was, but i think we’ll be prepared.”
Haugen hit four three-pointers in the second half and finished with 20 points in the victory
The Foxes pushed their lead to nine, 54-45, with 6:05 left in the game and Silverton didn’t relinquished that momentum en route to snapping their two-game skid and picking up the victory in the second round of their home tournament.
