STAYTON, Ore.– It was only a matter of time before, hopefully, that the Stayton shots were going to fall.
Well. It took about 15 minutes before the Eagles were able to land their first shot, a Josiah Dessieux goal in the 15th minute.
He, and Nick Pelayo, both led the offensive charge in the first half with two goals each as the Eagles led 5-0 at the halftime break. The fifth goal came off a Baker/Powder Valley/Pine Eagle own goal in the 36rh minute.
Consistency in creating opportunities have been there for Stayton, but not so much the landing of them. Tonight was one of those times where they fell often, something that they would hope will continue into the 4A State Quaterfinals on Saturday.
“I feel like our offense was clicking a lot better today than it has in games past. Hopefully it carries through the rest of the playoffs,” said Dessieux. “Hopefully we can come in with the same excitement and energy. Keep that intensity in practice and carry it over into games.”
Johnny Garcia, a Oregon West Conference First-teamer and second game back from an injury suffered midway through the season, scored in the 47th. Garcia scored again in the 58th that made it 7-0.
Logan Bratton ended the game by a 8-0 final result in the 60th minute.
