Several local Salem-area Cross Country teams took part in the Rose City Championships, Champoeg Invitational, and the Paul Mariman Invitational this past weekend.
Here’s a Round-Up. My apologies if I missed anyone:
Fifth Annual Rose City Championships
PORTLAND, Ore.–Central’s Ty Cirino, finished eighth in the Rose City Championships Championship Race. The Panthers Aidan Wendring finished 18th. North Salem’s Nelida Dalgas finished second in the Girls Championship Race with a time of 17:10.27. West Salem’s Avery Meier finished tenth in the same race.
Silverton’s Katelyn Buchnoff won the 5K Silver Girls Race with a time of 18:56.86 on Saturday. McNary’s Jocelyn Schurbusch finished fourth. West Salem’s Andres Hagen finished fourth, and McNary’s Yosaf Picazo finished sixth in the 5K Silver Boys Race.
Champoeg Invitational
CHAMPOEG STATE PARK, Ore.– Dallas’ Kelsey Rodii and Amber Green go one-two in the Varsity Girls Race on Friday as the Dragons won the Champoeg Invitational with 51 team points. Three Dallas runners finished in the Top 8 with Avery Hoffman finishing eighth with a PR time of 19:29.20.
Sprague’s Jovi Johnson finished fourth with a PR time of 19:00.80, and Western Christian’s Kali Ellis finished seventh. Regis Frankie Kohnke finished just outside the Top 10 with a 12th place finish with a time of 19:51.10, a PR for the freshman.
Woodburn’s David Villanueva Cortes finished third in the Boys Race with a time of 15:50.70. Kayden Bejar from South Salem finished eighth, and Sprague’s Xzaiver Parker finished ninth with a PR time of 16:19.10 in the Varsity Race. Regis’ Stuart McLaughlin finished 13th with a PR time of 16:29.60.
Paul Mariman Invitational
PHULOMATH, Ore.–Cascade, saw Makalia Kuenzi (15th) and Makaylee Lung (17th) finish in the Top 20 at the Paul Mariman Invitational on Saturday. The Cougars Parker Hunt finished 26th in the Boys Race.
