KEIZER, Ore.–  McNary came out aggressive.  They came out mad and with a mission after Thursday’s 1-1 tie with Sprague when they opened up Game 2 of their Central Valley Conference slate against North Salem on Tuesday night.
Within the first eight minutes, they broke through with a Ryder Allen goal in the eighth minute.  Israel Orta scored in the 39th and the 55th minutes respectively, as the Celtics opened the game with a 3-0 lead and gave them a cushion over the Vikings.  A 75th minute goal by Angel Apale Chavez helped solidify the win as McNary picked up their first CVC victory of the young season.
“We wanted to bounce back from that tie. We were very upset by it.  So we wanted to do everything in our power to bounce back from that tie and move forward with it,” said Orta.  “I think this was the best game we’ve played.  We connected, we communicated very well, and our keepers did very well in goal.  We did a good job communicating as a team.”
For the Vikings, coming off a tough preseason slate that saw them rise to the occasion, Tuesday’s game was just nothing more than a slight hiccup in what they are hoping is a strong season as they look to respond Friday at home against South Salem.
“The only thing you can do is learn and move forward.  Because of our conference, we have a rematch, and we’ll be ready to get them in the second round.  A lot of it is going to come down to how we prepare and how we  get ready for that second round.  But I’m confident that our guys will bounce back,” said North Salem Head Coach Moises Mendoza Medina.  “I got all the effort that we needed. The guys did exactly like I asked them to, so now it’s a matter of how to plan an attack to moving forward.  There’s a lot of league left, and I’m really confident in this group.”
The Celtics are at West Salem Friday to play the Titans.
