The Versatile Bradford

SILVERTON, Ore.–  Silverton senior Aden Bradford has been Mr. Versatile for the Foxes Boys Soccer program through the years.

As a freshman, Bradford was a forward.  Sophomore year, he was more in a midfielder position.  Junior year he moved into a defensive role as a defensive midfielder before moving into a Center Back position this year as a senior.

“It’s kind of a lot,” said Bradford.  “You kind of see the whole game and you see everyone in front of you.  It’s a big role, but it’s just being very versatile with everything.”

Bradford and the back defensive line of the Foxes have been pretty rock solid this preseason with league starting on Tuesday against Dallas/Perrydale.

In six games, the Silverton defense has allowed just six goals and the defense has pitched three shutouts to this point.  Outside of their preseason finale against Tualatin, a 3-1 defeat to the Timberwolves on September 23, Silverton hadn’t allowed more than one goal in a game.

They’re a very technical team.  It’s something that has helped them to their 2-1-2 start to the season to go with their strong defensive output.  All that has set the foundation going into what is considered probably the hardest soccer classification in 5A, if not in the whole State in any classification in the Mid-Willamette Conference.

“We work really well together,” said Bradford.  “We’re just hoping to carry over the same (success).  It’s going to take a lot to get through us, they’re going to try their hardest that they’re not going to get by easy.  We’re looking at this preseason only allowing a few goals in, it shows that we’re here to play, but we’re also a team that’s not going to get let-by.  They’re going to have to really focus on us.

The Foxes head to Albany to play West Albany on Thursday following their home game against Dallas/Perrydale on Tuesday.
