Amity, Santiam, Perrydale, Kennedy, Dayton, and St. Paul were just some of the local Salem-area teams that saw athletes placed on the first day of the State Track and Field State Meet on Thursday. Here’s a Round-Up
Amity’s Haley Miersma broke the 200-meter dash school record with a PR time of 25.63 in the prelims.
Santiam’s Colt Twede (Shot Put, 45-feet-10.85-inches). Averie Peterson finished second in the Triple Jump.
Kennedy’s Tia Allen won the Discus, Isabel Berning finished second in the Javelin
Dayton’s Hadley Hughes won the Javelin Title with a PR throw of 134-feet-3.25-inches. Amity’s Saralynn Grove finished third.
Delphian’s Liv Curry won the High Jump Title.
Delphian’s Boston Brown finished second in the 3,000-meter race with a PR time of 9:02.51.
Regis’ Abe Ritcher (Shot Put, Sixth), Blanchet’s James Barnett (Shot Put, sixth). St. Paul’s Brandon Cook (Fourth, High Jump) and Skeeter Irving (eighth, Triple Jump) placed in the Boys’ side.
Salem Academy’s Clara Persons (3,000-meter, sixth), St. Paul’s Aundra Rose (Discus, fourth), Blanchet’s Molly Mucken (Discus, fifth), Crosshill Christian’s Kasey Zuidema (Javelin, sixth). Salem Academy’s Emma Brewer and Kennedy’s Reaghan Williams went four-five in the 2A High Jump event. Dayton’s Nora Shepard finished fourth in the 3A State High Jump event, Shepard also finished sixth in the 3A Triple Jump. Perrydale’s Greta Fillible finished seventh in the 1A State Pole Vault. Salem Academy’s Emma Brewer, Santiam’s Reese Longfellow, and Salem Academy’s Ella Grubbs finished third, sixth, and eighth , respectively, in the 2A State Triple Jump.
