Aniyah’s throw on April 30th at the dual meet versus West Salem traveled 110′ 5”, catapulting her to the top of the CVC. It was also the 8th best mark in school history for the event. Aniyah also stands as the 8th best shot putter in 6A this season, with a personal record mark of 35 feet 5.25 inches and is the defending CVC champion.
Aniyah has also been a team captain and leader in the Viking volleyball program for 4-years.

Our Salem Sports and Breakfast Club Les Schwab Athlete of the Week, from West Salem Softball, is Braeli Martin.
Braeli, a senior, is a 4-year varsity starter and one of the best pitchers in Oregon at 6A. She is also an occasional outfielder. As of this past Saturday, in her last five games in the circle Braeli was 5-0 over 29 innings with 37 strikeouts, and a 1.99 earned run average. But she certainly helps her own cause as a hitter as well. Over that same stretch she went 12 for 22 at the plate with a .545 batting average, including 4 homeruns and a double. By the way, one of the homers was a grand slam. She also had 20 RBI, scored 7 runs, had a 1.72 on-base-percentage, and a .571 batting average with runners in scoring position.
This is Braeli’s second Athlete of the Week honor for softball. She was also and AOTW for basketball.

The Salem Sports and Breakfast Club Les Schwab Athlete of the Week, from North Salem Track and Field, is Braxton Singleton.
Braxton, a junior, is in his 3rd year as a member of the North Salem Track and Field program. He is the current Central Valley Conference leader and 4th ranked 110-meter hurdler in 6A this season. He won the 110-meter-high hurdles and the 300-meter intermediate hurdles at the dual meet against South Salem on April 23rd. Two days later he won both events again, at the Rob Allen Twilight in Lebanon on April 25th, where he set new personal records in each race, and is now tied for the fastest fully automatic 110 meter hurdle mark at North Salem.
Braxton is an all-CVC football player as well who was an AOTW this past fall for football.
Braxton “is a great ambassador for North Salem athletics”, according to Coach Herrmann.

The Salem Sports and Breakfast Club Les Schwab Athlete of the Week, from South Salem Baseball, is Gavin Price.
The Saxons are currently 19-0 on the season and ranked #2 in Oregon 6A and Gavin, like Noah, is no small part of that success.
Gavin is a 4-year varsity player. Gavin is the guy you want up with runners on base. He broke the South Salem all-time runs batted in record in a game against Liberty earlier this season. Former Saxon Joey August had another of his records surpassed when Gavin drove in run #107 on his career. (By the way, don’t feel too sorry for Joey. He was named the 2004 Senior Football Athlete of the Year and the 2005 Senior Baseball Athlete of the Year and was South Salem’s nominee for the 2004-05 male Athlete of the Year.) Gavin also owns the Saxon single season RBI record with 50, set in 2024. On the season he’s hitting .431 with 3 doubles, 2 triples, and 2 HR to go along with 18 runs scored and 31 RBI.
This is Gavin’s first Athlete of the Week honor.

The Salem Sports and Breakfast Club Les Schwab Athlete of the Week, from West Salem Track and Field, is Mia Rasca.
Mia, a junior for the Titans, has been on fire this season. She won the 1500 at the prestigious Titan Track Classic in a time of 4:43 back in April. Her efforts helped West Salem to the girls team title. Mia’s time ranks her 1st in the 1500 in the Central Valley Conference. In the weeks since, she’s set PR’s in the 200 meters (28.63), 400 meters (1:02.83), and 800 meters (2:20.16). She’s also run 10:18 in the 3000 meters and was a part of the school’s record breaking distance medley relay which finished 2nd at the Jesuit Twilight Relays as well as setting the school record in the 4×800 at the Cardinal Invite.
Coach Lindsey says, “[Mia has put] together one of the more impressive all-around resumes in the state…[She] continues to raise the barwith speed, range, and toughness.”
This is Mia’s second Athlete of Week recognition for track and field. She also has been honored for cross country.

Our Salem Sports and Breakfast Club Les Schwab Athlete of Week, from Salem Academy Track and Field, is Noah Dettwyler
Noah is a senior sprinter-hurdler for the Crusaders. Over the course of the season (7 meets), Noah has yet to lose an individual race to a Tri-River Conference opponent. He currently ranks 1st in the 100, 200, 400 meters. He is also ranked 1st in the 110 hurdles and 300 meter hurdles, and anchors the league-leading 4 by 100 relay team. Noah also holds top-10 marks in 2A in 5 of those events and top 5 rankings in 4 of them. He currently holds the #14 mark across all Oregon classifications in the 300 meter hurdles.
Coach Sam Kenyon says, “[Noah] is a fantastic leader of both younger athletes and fellow seniors; what he lacks in words he makes up for by his example. Great teams are often marked by athletes who are motivated to constantly get better, athletes who are great leaders, and athletes with great talent – Noah happens to be all three. Any day that we are shorthanded on coaches, Noah gives me full confidence that the hurdlers group will be in good hands.”
This is Noah’s first Athlete of the Week recognition.

The Salem Sports and Breakfast Club Les Schwab Athlete of the Week, from South Salem Baseball, is Noah Scharer.
The Saxons are currently 19-0 on the season and ranked #2 in Oregon 6A and Noah is no small part of that success.
Noah is a 4-year varsity player. On the season he’s had some success. As of Wednesday afternoon, he was hitting .393 with 4 doubles, 3 homeruns, 21 runs scored, 19 runs batted in, and 10 stolen bases. His career hasn’t been bad either. In the game versus Lincoln, Noah became South Salem’s all-time hits leader when he went 2-4, collecting his 109th career hit. Hit #109 sent Noah past 2005 Saxon Joey August – who went on to play at Stanford before a brief stint in the New York Mets organization – and 2018 Saxon Aaron Zavala, who went on to play for Oregon and is now in the Texas Rangers organization.
Noah was also an Athlete of the Week in 2023 for baseball.
