ADAIR VILLAGE, Ore — The bats of Willamina were on point Friday evening against Santiam Christian, producing (15) runs thanks in part to (17) hits.
All 15 runs came in the second, third, and fourth innings after a slow start to the game for the Bulldog offense, with eleven of those runs coming in the fourth inning. It was those adjustments at the plate that helped them, especially with a big week upcoming for Willamina this next week.
“Definitely focusing a lot on bat to ball. Real, basic elementary bat to ball. Scooting up in the box and waiting for it. That kind of stuff,”said Sadie Risseeuw.
It’ll be a playoff-like environment the next two games for the Bulldogs with Scio on Monday at Willamina before going to Dayton to play the Pirates. Each Scio, Dayton, and Willamina are in the Top 4 in 3A going into the final week of the season.
“Just being able to adjust up at the plate and make our adjustments. I think this was a good practice run on adjustment making, which is a big part of the game,” said Risseeuw.
The sprint to the regular season finish line starts Monday at 4:30pm.
