Several local Salem-area wrestling teams were in action this past weekend. Here’s a Round-Up:
Braided 64
McNary’s McKenna Unger (145) and Sprague’s Evelyn Wirfs (170) finished second at the stacked Braided 64 tournament. The Celtics Marlina Martinez (115) finished fourth and the Olympians Chaya Palomo (100) finished seventh at the tournament.
Lady Dragons Invitational
The Dallas Girls Wrestling team finished second as a teamwith Jenna Rogers (145) winning her weight class. Ah Pymm McDaniel (110) amd Polly Olliff (115) each finished second.
The McKay Girls Wrestling team finished third as a team with Sarahi Chavez (100) winning her weight class. Aileen Paniagua (100) and Jasmin Lopez Hernandez (145) each finished second.
Willamina’s Zoe Brewer won the 105 pound class and North Salem’s Evelynn Littejohn finished secpnd at 235 as the Vikings finished third as a team in the tournament.
Woodfin Robinson Johnson
Scio’s Ryder Acuff finished second at 138 as the Loggers finished fourth as a team. Zander Cate (113), Hunter Davis (150) and Colton Medeiros (165) finished third as 11 Scio wrestlers placed. Scio’s Emily Zamudio finished (98-111), Kayla Borregard (112-124) finished second in the girls tournament
Tigard Invitational
McKay’s Sebastian Romero (113) won his weight class and Aiden Ojeda (190) finished second as thr Scots finished fourth at the tournament.
Knappa Winter Bash
Dayton’s Joe Schmidt finished second at 120 as the Pirates also saw Pedro Cisneros (190) finish third. Gervais saw Jose Santos (106) and Matt Cain (113) finishing third in their respective weight classes. Sheridan’s Alessandro DePiero finished third at 215.
Gervais’ Ksenia Zepeda (155) and Dayton’s Aliyah Sauceda (190) each won Individual Titles. Sheridan’s Peylinn Childress (115) and Gervais’ Anjeli Zepeda (120).
