HARRISBURG, Ore.–  After suffering a dislocated knee last season as a junior, Scio High School senior Kayla Borregard has been taking it all in this season before she graduates.
“A lot.  Knowing that it can be taken away so quickly,” starts Borregard.
Borregard entered the 120 pound Title Bout at the Harrisburg All Girls Tournament 17-3 on the year and got a first-round by before picking up pins in the Quarter Finals and Semis finals before facing a tough challenge in Sluslaw’s Macsli Lade.
Lade, however, would get the best of Borregard Saturday afternoon.  Lade came out aggressive and caught Borregard in a jam and turned in a first round pin of the Logger grappler in Borregard’s first couple of matches at 120 pounds of the season.
“Just knowing more about what to expect.  I came down to 120 this week, new weight class,” said Borregard.  “(This year) has been going pretty well.  Last year, I hurt my knee, so I didn’t get the whole season, so this year, I’ve been doing pretty well.”
Borregard was one of two Scio Girl’s Wrestlers to have placed in the tournament.  Emily Zamudio finished fourth at 110 pounds, the senior reached the tournament semi’s before falling to Dallas’ Ah Pymm McDaniel, a third-place finisher at 5A/6A 105 pounds and reached the Consolation Finals.  The Loggers finished 13th of 18 teams in the tournament.
