Several local Salem-area teams took part in some big tournaments this past weekend.
Here’s a Round-Up
North Bend Classic
North Salem’s Yandel Basham (106, fourth), Stayton’s Leonardo Michel (144, third) and Stayton’s Lyric Burroughs (165, fifth) all placed in the coastal tournament.
North Bend Classoc Girls Tournament
McNary’s Jessica Cottings (100) and McKenna Unger (145) finished second as the Celtics finished second as a team with 168.5 team points. Cascade’s Alexis Cruz (110, third), North Salem’s Yasmin Pastrana (125, third) also placed.
Rose City Championships
Cascade’s Hans Kamm (144, second). Dallas’ Sully Hill (132, third),Carson Langford (215, fourth) andDallas’ Alexander Nunez (106, sixth), Sprague’s Jaxon Camillo (157, fourth) and Kenya Johnson (190, fourth) and Willamina’s Adonijah Stanton (132, sixth) all placed at the tournament.
War of the Rose’s
Sprague’s Chaya Palomo (100), Dallas’ Polly Olliff (115) and Jenna Rogers (145) brought home Individual Tournament Titles. Willamina’s Zoe Brewer (105, third), Dallas’ Marissa McGinnis (105, fourth), Sprague’s Isabella Wilburn (115, fifth), Dallas’ Ah Pymm McDaniel (120, fifth), Sprague’s Evelyn Wirfs (170, fourth) all placed.
Herrin Holiday Classic
McKay’s Sebastian Romero (115), South Salem’s Damian Zaragoza (165) won Individual Titles. Woodburn’s Orion Madrigal (126) and Iberaldo Calmo (132) as well as South Salem’s Ashenafi Kolb (150) finished Runner-Up at their respective weight classes.
Gary McDaniel Tournament
Kennedy’s Bohden Sowa (132), Dallas’ Lorenzo Romero-Hill (138), Dallas’ Jullien Yoder (144l, Scio’s Hunter Davis (157) and Jefferson’s Teddy Gorman (175) brought home Individual Tournament Titles. Kennedy’s Caleb Kline (106), Scio’s Ryder Acuff (138), Dallas’ Gavin Blanchard (215) and Sheridan’s Joseph Trammell (285) all finished Runner-Up in their respective weight classes.
Gary McDaniel Girls Tournament
Scio’s Emily Zamudio (115), Kayla Borregard (125) won titles, as did Gervais’ Anjeil Zepada (130) and Ksenia Zepeda (155). Sheridan’s Libby Martin won the 170 pound title. Sheridan’s Peylin Childress (115), Jefferson’s Isa Curiel (120) and Scio’s Olivia Christie (130) all finished Runner-Up in their respective weight classes.
