SALEM, Ore.–  Last year was a great year for the Sprague Boys Basketball team.  A 16-9 overall record, their 10-2 Central Valley Conference record was good enough to win the League Title by a game over West Salem.  The Olympians 49-48 victory on February 23 over the Titans helped seal the CVC title for Sprague. Now entering this year, the Olys are primed to do it again.  They return guys like Jarrod Stanley and Braxton Long.  Anthony Best, an All-State guy at Cascade last season at the 4A-level, is in the program.Last year may have been a surprise, but they’re ready to defend their League Title this Winter.”It was a big goal for us…this year we’re coming in just with the same mindset to win it again.  We’re just working hard everyday, we’ve been preparing from three months ago working hard in the offseason just to get better,” said Long.  “It’s really big for us to get ready already so that our first game against Caldera, we’ll be ready.  Be ready to bond, fight and win.”What they took away from their season last year for this year to improve for this year was improving on their defense and staying focused on the court.  It’s because they’ve got the talent, they got the size and the dude’s to make it happen, it’s just a matter of polishing everything together to make it happen and see if they can get to the Chiles Center in March.”Just our defense and just our focus on the court.  Not letting the little mistakes get in our heads,” Dukatti Witherspoon said of how they can improve.  “We have a lot of size this year with the addition of Anthony.  We, as a team, can be the best that has ever been at this school.”Sprague heads to Oregon City for the Oregon City jamboree on December 4 before hosting Caldera on December 7 at 2pm at Sprague High School.
