SALEM, Ore.–  Dallas’ Jenna Rogers completed a successful District Title run Saturday afternoon at West Salem High School with a 6-0 victory over McKay’s Jasmin Lopez Hernandez for the 140 Pound District Title.
After a slow first period that saw both Rogers and Lopez Hernandez tied at zero, Rogers began to go to work.  Rogers got an escape to start the second and picked up a takedown to take a 4-0 lead.  The lead remained the same going into the third period where Rogers added to her lead with a reversal to build a 6-0 lead en route to the District Championship Win with some things to work on.
“It was a good match, but I think I need to keep working for State.  Just keep working these next two weeks for State.  My offense and mindset  I felt good though, and felt blessed with everything I did,” siad Rogers.
Rogers was one of four District Winners for the Dragons on Saturday.  Yoselin Nunez (105), Madelyn Russell (130) and Lindsey Faulkner (135) each brought home District Title wins with Marissa McGinnis (100) and Nanasi Talakai (125) each finishing second for a Dallas squad who brought home Coach of the Year and the District Championship.
In Faulkner’s District Championship bout at 135 pounds, used a big second round to help in her 8-4 decision on Saturday where she turned an 1-0 lead after the first round into an 8-0 lead thanks to a seven-point second round.
“It was good, I’ve been working on getting underhooks and stuff.  I was just trying to calm myself down, this isn’t the end of it and we still have State in two weeks from now, and it has to be bigger and better than it was tonight,” said Faulkner.
Her endurance will be the key area of focus over these next two weeks as she, and her teammates, prepare for the State Tournament up in Portland here at the end of the month.
Dallas finished with  13 placers and 324.5 team points in the 5A/6A Special District 3 District Meet.
