Several local Salem-area teams took part in tournaments this past weekend. Here’s a Round-Up:
WILLAMINA, Ore.– The Scio Boys Wrestling team edged Willamina for the team title with 192.5 team points. Scio’s Colton Medeiros and Arley Lebard each brought home titles in their respective weight classes as the Loggers finished with 11 placers.
Willamina finished second as a team at the Bob Bishop Invitational with five individual winners in Adonijah Stanton (137) Kisor Savage (144) Jacob Bassey (157), Bodhi Baller (`190) and Landon Risseuw (285). The Bulldogs had 12 placers.
DAYTON, Ore.– The Dayton Boys Wrestling team finished fifth as a team with 85.5 team points at the Mike Henry Boys Memorial Tournament. Jefferson (71.5) and Kennedy (70.5) finished seventh and eighth respectively.
Dayton’s Angel Guerrero finished second at 132, and Alejandro Magana also finished second at 175. Joe Schmidt (120) and Samuel Walsh (157) each finished third. Kennedy’s Bohden Sowa won the 150 pound title. Jefferson’s Teddy Gorman (175) finished third.
In the Girls Tournament. the Dayton Girls Wrestling team finished first in the Mike Henry Girls Memorial Tournament behind individual titles by Aliyah Sauceda (170) and Kaylin Dickerson (235). The Pirates had nine who placed
The Jefferson Girls Wrestling team finished fourth with Isabella Curiel winning the 135 pound title and Kyana Kendall finishing second at 120 pounds/
Scio’s Lilly Inde finished third while Cascade’s Karlie Burns was fourth at 145 pounds
Aliyah Sauceda (170) and Kaylin Dickerson (235) each won titles.
Dallas Lady Dragons Invitational
DALLAS, Ore.–The North Salem Girls Wrestling team won the Dallas Lady Dragons Invitational with 185.5 team points on Saturday. Dallas and McNary finished third and fifth respectively in the 51 team tournament.
North Salem’s Aileen Paniagua won t he 100 pound title. McNary’s Marlina Martinez finished second at the 115 pound match. Dallas’ Jenna Rogers finsihed second at 145 and McKay’s Aryanna Garcia-Vasques finished third.
North Salem’s Saira Vipperman won the 155 pound title with Central’s Liliana Alvarez finishing second at 155. West Salem’s Sophia Zuniga finished third at 190 pounds. North Salem’s Madelynn Littejohn finished second at 235 pounds with Mahala Collins finishing third at 235.
