Several local, Salem-area teams took part in tournaments this past weekend to kick-off the new year. Here’s a Round-Up.
MCMINNVILLE, Ore.– The Cascade Boys Wrestling team finished fifth at the Your Space with Jonas Camillo winning the 138 pound title and Landon Morris finished second at 106 pounds.
Silverton finished ninth as a team with Gavin Koster finishing second at 113 pounds.
Willamina finished tenth as a team wkth Adonijah Stanton (132), Kisor Savage (144)Landon Risseeuw (285) won titles.
South Salem’s Joshua Reyes-Webber finished second at 175 pounds.
SALEM, Ore.– The Dallas Girls Wrestling team won The Big John Tournament on Saturday. Madelyn Russell (130) and Jenna Rogers (145) all won titles. Marissa McGinnis finished second at 100, as didCerraFast (105) nd Khadijah Tabib (175) at their respective weight classes to lead the Dragons
North Salem finished second as a team. Aileen Paniagua (100), Yasmin Pastrana (125), Saira Vipperman (155) and Madelynn Littejohn (235) all won titles. Diana Hernandez finished second at 120 to lead the Vikings.
South Salem finished 3rd as a team behind second place finishes by Hadassah Albino-Naya (125), Luna Krout (145) and Dennece LaMothe (190) to lead the Saxons.
Sprague finished fourth as a team as Isabella Wilburn (110) and Evelyn Wirfs (175) each won titles to lead the Olympians.
Central’s Mica Tonnsen won 115, Lillana Alvarez finished second at 155. Cascade’s Nevaeh Hampton was second at 130. Silverton’s Sayler Graham (135) and the Foxes Sofie Baldridge (140) each won titles.
West Salem’s Sophia Zuniga won the 190 pound title
PLEASANT HILL, Ore.– The Scio Boys Wrestling team won the King of the Hill International. Jack Forson and Hunter Davis each won their weight classes as the Loggers had 13 placers at the tournament.
