SALEM, Ore.– The Cascade Girls Basketball team left no doubt in the third-place game of the Capitol City Classic Camry Bracket third-place game on Monday.
They came out aggressive, and motivated coming off of their double overtime defeat to South Salem on Saturday night.
They led 31-21 at halftime and extended their lead to 49-30 by the end of the third quarter en route to a third place finish in the tournament.
“Coming off that loss thinking that we weren’t going to lose. The loss was hard, but we took South Salem to double overtime, that’s a big school and to battle like that..we brought in a new defense (on Monday), new offense. Every girl contributed today and everyone brought what they needed to,” said Olivia Bennett.
Bennett contributed 14 points and Rozalynn Schmunk led all scorers with 18 points as Cascade wraps up their non-league slate with the Surf N’ Salem in San Diego starting this weekend with some things to work on going into Oregon West Conference play on January.
“Boxing out. Definitely against the bigger girls. We just got to push the big girls out, so that we have a chance with the rebound,”said Cassidy Crabtree.
