STAYTON, Ore.–Both the Delphian and Regis Volleyball teams entered Monday’s Tri-River Conference contest against one another at Regis High School ranked inside the Top 10 in all of 2A.
Top 8 to be more precise. With the Rams ranked eighth and the Dragons from Sheridan ranked sixth in the classification.
Regis started the match off strong with a set one victory over Delphian 25-17. The Rams started off the season 7-0, those seven wins alone were more than they had won all of last season (six wins in 2024). They’ve come out driven from Day 1 in preparation for this year, and entering the game against Delphian at 8-2 and 2-0 in TRC play, that drive is still there as they want to go make a push for the playoffs for the first time since the 2018 season.
“A lot of hard work,” starts Regis’ Head Coach Elaine Blish. “Right before and coming into try-outs and the first few weeks of practice and they all want it. They want to go farther than the past few years and a few seniors that are driving that.”
The Dragons, who came within a set win of the 2A Playoffs last season, falling to Santiam in five sets in 2024 in the league playoffs for the last Automatic Bid out of the league, they’re driven. With five seniors on roster, led by Liv Curry and Amelia Peterson, they took set two in dominant fashion and carried that into the third and fourth sets en route to a 17-25, 25-15, 25-16, 25-18.victory over the Rams.
“This team is really resilient. I know if they lose the first set like that, they’ll get back and push hard and fast,” said Delphian Head Coach Denise Dickey. “They’ve been working hard, the seniors for four years to get where they’re at now. So they’re just trying to put everything together and work their hardest,”
Delphian and Santiam currently sit on top of the standings at 3-0 with the Rams a half-game behind them in the loss column going into Wednesday’s game in Sheridan. Regis will host Kennedy on Wednesday.
