SALEM, Ore.–  Sprague, and Chemeketa Community College-grad Taylor Brenneman took full advantage of the opportunity to play for his hometown squad in the Marion Berries
Signed on for a two week deal, Brenneman put in the work showcasing his versatility in the field as an outfielder and as a pitcher as he had for the Storm the last two years.
He pitched 15-and-two-third innings thus far this Summer with four strikeouts in three games and three starts, bolstering a 2-0 record and an 1.72 ERA.  Brenneman has also driven in a run and a double in seven plate appearances.  Doing well enough that he’s continued on as one of the local Salem-area kids on the squad.
“This is the opportunity that I wanted. It was something that I saw coming.  Who doesn’t want to play for their hometown team?  So it was something that I wanted to go out and play the best I could  and hopefully stick around a little bit longer,” said Brenneman.
Go out and play his brand of baseball Brenneman points towards.  Go out, pitch, and let things come to him naturally.
“Just gritty, competitive baseball.  Not fearing anyone, go out there and competing pitch-by-pitch and let everyone play out as it happens,” Brenneman said.
The Berries kicked off their three-game home series with Bend on Tuesday at Chemeketa Community College with the Elks taking Game 1 8-2.  The Berries will be back at it for Game 2 of the series on Wednesday at 6:35pm. at Chemeketa Community College
