Track and Field Round-Up

Several local Salem-area teams took part in Track and Field Meets this past weekend.  Here’s a Round-Up:


Harrisburg Twilight Meet
HARRISBURG, Ore.– Blanchet Catholic Boys and Girls Track and Field teams won the first in the Team Points.  Jeyden Flores Escobar (100-meter), Calvin Tingleaf (110-meter hurdles), Geo Escobar (300-mete Hurdles), James Barnett (Shot Put and Discus), Molly Mucken (Shot Put and Discus), Horte Gemedo (High Jump) and Tatum Fleming (Long Jump and Triple Jump) all won Individual event titles.
Crosshill Christian’s Kasey Zuidema won the Javelin event. Sawyer Bain finished second in the 300-meter Hurdles with a PR time of 44.74.  Dylan Vancil finished second in the Shot Put with a PR throw of 42-feet-3.75-inches to lead the Eagles.
Scio’s Jack Forson finished third in the Pole Vault, and Emily Zamudio finished second in the 300-meter hurdles to lead the Loggers.
Gervais’ Ben Cam and Monty Andres went one-two in the Long Jump to lead the Cougars.

Junction City Invitational
JUNCTION CITY, Ore. —  Amity’s Kiyan Vrell (Javelin, Long Jump), Ethan Owings (High Jump), Mya Haarsma (100-meter dash), Amity’s Girls 4×100 meter relay team and Haley Miersma (Long Jump, 15-feet-8.5-inch PR)  led the Warriors who finished fifth on the boys side and were fourth on the Girls side of the meet.
Sheridan’s Jayden O’Reilly finished third and fourth respectively in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes.  The Spartans Zachery Dauvin finished second in the 3,000-meter race. Sheridan’s Kaylee Johnson finished third in the 800-meter race with a PR time of 2:48.27.

Cardinal Varsity Invite
BEAVERTON, Ore.– McNary’s Vince Estrada finished sixth in the 1500-meter race.  Yosaf Picazo finished sixth in the 400-meter race. West Salem’s Elijah James finished eight with a PR time of 11.02.  Silverton’s Logan Pawlak and Dallas’ Sean Ward went seventh and eighth respectively in the 110-meter hurdles.  Ward PR’d with a time of 15.93.  Pawlak also finished eighth in the 300-meter hurdles.
On the field side of the event.  West Salem’s Tyler Hawkins won the event with a 166-foot throw, a PR for Hawkins.  Silverton’s Sage Trager finished fourth with a PR throw of 159-feet-6-inches.  Dallas’ Sea Ward won the High Jump with a jump of 6-feet-4-inches.  West Salem’s Logan Hilty won the Triple Jump (47-feet-1-inch PR) and finished second in the Long Jump (22-feet-8.5-inch PR)  Silverton’s Tristan Keopadapsy and West Salem’s Cory Dillon finished fifth in eighth in the event respectively.  McNary’s Derek Olvio finished second in the Discus with a PR throw of 153-feet-1-inch and finished seventh in the Shot Put.
Girls Track and Field Meet
Dallas’ Harlow Nelson finished the second in the 200-meter dash and third in the 100-meter dash. Dallas’ Kelsey Rodii finished second in the 3,000-meter race with a PR time of 10:23.52, and Amber Green finished fourth in the 1,500-meter race.  Silverton’s Greyson Glivinski won the Javeline throw with a throw of 134-feet-11-inches.  The Foxes also saw Braelyn Walter finish fourth in the throw with a PR throw of 115-feet-6-inches.



Heart of the Valley Spartan Challenge
CORVALLIS, Ore.–Central’s Ty Cirino won the 3,000-meter race, Gabe Haines won the Discus and Ryan Perkins finished second in the Long Jump with a PR jump of 21-feet-2-inches Friday as the Panthers finished third as a team in the Boys Teams Points.
Central’s Anna Cole finished second in the Discus, Stayton’s Johanna Comstock finished third in the Javelin as Stayton and Central Girls Track and Field team finished seventh and eighth respectively
