The Salem Sports and Breakfast Club honored Salem Academy’s Addie Brault (Softball), Sprague’s Ava Decker (Girls Tennis), West Salem’s Logan Hilty (Boys Track and Field), Blanchet’s Joseph Beyer (Boys Golf), McKay’s Allison Reynolds (Girls Track and Field) and Salem Academy’s Ellie Gladow (Girls Golf) at this past Friday’s meeting.

The Salem Sports and Breakfast Club Les Schwab Athlete of the Week, from Salem Academy Softball, is Addie Brault.
Addie, a sophomore, plays shortstop for the Crusaders who are 12-4 on the season, 10-0 in conference, and currently ranked #5. Addie recently helped Salem Academy to a seven-game win streak (now eight), hitting .450 with a .577 on base percentage. She had 9 hits over the stretch including 3 doubles. She also added 6 walks with 8 RBI and 12 runs scored.
This is Addie’s first AOTW recognition.
The Salem Sports and Breakfast Club Les Schwab Athlete of the Week, from Sprague Girls Tennis, is Ava Decker.
Ava, a junior, is a team captain for the Olys. Ava has successfully stepped into the #1-singles position this season. She is 10-3 on the season and undefeated in conference play at 4-0. All of her conference wins have been in two sets, defeating McNary 6-3, 6-0; South Salem 6-4, 6-2; North Salem 6-0, 6-0; West 6-3, 6-0.
Coach Schmelling says, “Ava’s a great tennis player and a wonderful role model, supporting and cheering on her teammates.”
This is Ava’s first AOTW recognition.
The Salem Sports and Breakfast Club Les Schwab Athlete of the Week, from West Salem Track and Field, is Logan Hilty.
Logan is a senior for the Titans. At last weekend’s Titan Track Classic, Logan won the long jump and triple jump. He recorded distances of 22’4” in the long jump and 44’9½” in the triple-jump. His efforts helped secure a boys team title for the Titans. Logan is currently ranked 2nd in 6A in the long jump and 3rd in the triple jump.
Logan was honored last year as an AOTW as well.
The Salem Sports and Breakfast Club Les Schwab Athlete of the Week, from Blanchet Catholic Boys Golf, is Joseph Beyer.
Joseph is a senior, a 4-year varsity, and a team captain for the Cavaliers. Joseph led Blanchet to their fourth win of the season by firing an impressive 2-under-par 69 at McNary Golf Club. His round included an eagle, 3 birdies, and 11 pars. In addition to securing the team victory he also earned medalist honors by a commanding 7-shot margin.
Coach Jones says that “Joseph has dedicated himself to consistently improving his game, and while success in golf doesn’t always come easily, it’s been incredibly rewarding to see his hard work pay off this season. He plays with the highest level of integrity, always showing respect for the game, his teammates, and his opponents. More importantly, Joseph is simply a wonderful young man—a true joy to coach and a great role model for our team.”
This is Joseph’s third AOTW honor.
The Salem Sports and Breakfast Club Les Schwab Athlete of the Week, from McKay Girls Track, is Allison Reynolds.
Allison is a 9th grader for the Scots. At a recent 4-way conference track meet, Allison won the long jump and pole vault while placing second in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles. Allison started the school year “full tilt” athletically as a starter on both the girls soccer and girls basketball teams. She was 2nd team all-Mid-Willamette Conference in basketball.
Coach Ingalls says, “She’s a great student, natural leader on our track team, and we’re SUPER excited for her future at McKay.” McKay Athletic Director Chelsea Lofstedt added, “Allison Reynolds is the kind of student-athlete who goes above and beyond, excelling in everything she sets her mind to…She currently holds a 4.0 GPA and is a standout role model within our athletic program…Allison proudly represents McKay athletics and pours her heart into both her school and community. And now, she’s making her mark on the track, and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate her accomplishments today.”
This is Allison’s first AOTW honor.
The Salem Sports and Breakfast Club Les Schwab Athlete of the Week, from Salem Academy Girls Golf, is Ellie Gladow.
Ellie, a sophomore, is a returning varsity golfer from last year’s Crusader State Champion team. Ellie has been solid on the course again this year, shooting 82, 79, and 78. She has helped the Crusaders to all four tournament wins this year, finishing in the top three at each. The last two tournaments have been against 5A and 6A schools. Ellie is also a swimmer who earned two wins at districts this past season. “Ellie worked extremely hard in the off season to be able to start her season where she left off last year..”, says Coach Turner.
