FOREST GROVE, Ore.– It wasn’t the prettiest of games, but a win is a win.
Top seed Cascade started off uncharacteristically slow against Seaside, scoring just one point through the first three minutes of the game and trailed 9-3 by the midway point of the quarter before pulling even with the Seagulls 12-12 by quarter’s end.
And that was just the beginning. By midway through the third quarter, they led Seaside 25-13, and by the end of the third quarter, they were ahead 39-19.
“They came out fast, and we were a little flat, but we’ll come out next game. We just got to keep going,” starts Hunter Anundi. “We’ve been fighting all year, just Championship Effort is what we strive for. Maximal effort and don’t give up.”
Cascade closed out the game, winning it 56-34 for the fifth-straight time going back to the Covid-shortened season when they reached the 4A Title Week Game against Marshfield It’s a standard that the program has created as they look to reach the final game of the season in the State Championship on Saturday night.
“It’s big because a lot of people counted us out…so to prove that we still got it is huge for us,” Anundi said.
Cascade will play at 6:30pm. on Friday in the State Semifinals.
