PHILOMATH, Ore.–  Playing at Philomath has to be the hardest place to play in Oregon West Conference, and Cascade wasn’t immune to that Tuesday night.
The Warriors bogged down the Cougars, slowing the game down that only 25 first-half points were scored with Cascade leading 15-10 at the halftime break.
But slowly, Cascade began to turn it on, leading 29-21 after three and leading by ten during the fourth quarter, and they created their own energy during what was a slow-paced game.
“They did a pretty good job slowing us down in the first half, its a really tough place to play here.  We tried not to be too negative at halftime.  We looked to the positive that we held a team to ten points at halftime, and if you hold a team to ten points at halftime regardless how much we have, that doesn’t matter, it’s a good thing,” said Landon Knox.  “So we just talked about making our own energy  because it was a low energy game, and it was really slow.  We had a really emphasis on  having higher energy on defense and really moving the ball more and getting the shot that we really wanted to take instead of the shot that they wanted us to take.”
The Warriors cut the Cougar lead to 37-33, but Cascade shut the door to improve to 7-0 in Oregon West Conference play going into Wednesday’s game with Newport.   Kaiden Ford led Cascade with 22 points, Knox added another 11. Caleb Russell hit five three-pointers and led Philomath with 17 points.
