Wrestling Round-Up

Sprague, Willamina, Woodburn, West Salem, and South Salem all saw athletes placed at the Bill Geister Invitational.  As did Silverton and McNary at the Jack Berger Invitational and Scio at the Howell Invitational.

Here’s a Round-Up of the action.

Bill Geister Invitational
Boys Tournament
The Sprague Boys Wrestling team finished third as a team, scoring 225 points.Andres Mendoza finished second at 113 pounds, as did Sullivan Puckett at 165 and Kenya Johnson at 190 pounds to lead the Olympians, who placed nine in the tournament.
Willamina’s Adonijah Stanton won the 132 Title.Kisor Savage finished second at 138 pounds for the 3A Bulldogs.Devin Huston finished third for Willamina at 157 pounds, the Bulldogs finished fifth as a team and placedfour in the tournament.
Woodburn’s Orion Madrigal finished third at 120 pounds to lead the 5A Bulldogs. West Salem’s Kit Shinkle (215) and Dominic  Angulo (175) placed fourth to lead the Titans. South Salem’s Ashenafi Kolb placed fifth at 144 pounds, and the Saxons Maddox Santana placed sixth at 215 to lead South Salem.

Girls Tournament
The Sprague Girls Wrestling team finished fourth as a team.Chaya Palomo won the 100 pounds title, Anne Marie Gorman finished third at 130 pounds, as did Evelyn Wirfs at 170 pounds for the Olympians.
The West Salem Girls Wrestling team finished seventh as a team.  McKenna Sanchez finished second at 145 pounds.Sophia Zuniga also finished second at 190 pounds as four Titan wrestlers placed.
The Willamina Girls Wrestling team placed tenth.Zoe Brewer won the  105-pound title title.Sadie Risseeuw finished second at 155 pounds, and Paige Baker placed fourth at 190 pounds.
Woodburn’s Emily Brown finished second at 110 pounds.

Jack Berger Invitational
Boys Tournament
The Silverton Boys Wrestling team finished third with Bo Zurcher (165) and Brash Henderson (215), winning their weight classes to lead the Foxes. Braxton Parker finished third at 144 pounds.  Silverton also saw placers in Danien Rael, who finished fourth at 285. Keysean David finished fifth at 175 pounds.  Zavian Black also finished  finished at 190 pounds.  Brandon Boehm finished sixth at 126. Miles Mulick also placed sixth at 150.
The McNary Boys Wrestling team finished tenth as a team.  David Ramirez Sierra finished second at 120 pounds, and Liam Koenig finished third at 126 pounds to lead the Celtics. Derek Jones also placed, finishing fourth at 120 pounds.

Girls Tournament
The Silverton Girls Wrestling team placed eighth as a team.  McKayla Bonham won the 120-pound title.  The Foxes saw third place finished by Sayler Graham (130), Nova Graham (140), and Kallie Wilson (170). Leilani McElfresh finished sixth at 120 points, as did Sofie Baldridge at 135 pounds.

Howell Invitational
The Scio Boys Wrestling team finished third with Riley Harmon winning the 285-pound title and Jacob Donner (215) and Logan Zosel (165), placing second to lead the Loggers.  Braddic Stillman placed third at 144, Jack Stopher placed fourth at 120, as did Nolan Buganski at 165.  Riley Berg placed sixth at 285.
