SALEM, Ore.–  It was probably way more intense than how Amity wanted to after leading entering the fourth quarter leading 54-46 over Horizon Christian of Tualatin Thursday morning to open the Crusader Classic Green Bracket.

The Warriors had built some momentum for the second half after a strong finish to the second half, but then the Eagles started to hit some shots and got some stops in the fourth quarter to pull themselves within one of Amity with 21.6 seconds left in the game.

Weathering the storm, the Warriors played some tough defense on their last two possessions.  Clutching up to clinch what would be a 71-69 victory to advance to Thursday’s Green Bracket Semifinals against Crosshill Christian at 3pm.

“We did what we needed to do, brought the energy up.   We came together, we started rebounding and started to put a little bit of pressure on their shooters and do what we needed to do,” said Con Coelho.  “We got to come out (Friday) with high energy.  We got to come out, guard their shooters and play great defense.”

Coelho scored 17 points, Kiyan Vrell led the Warriors with 25 points.  Austin Carrasco also scored 17 points for Amity.

Chaim Libel had a game-high 28 points to lead Horizon.
