Several local Salem-area teams had wrestlers in action this past weekend. Here’s a Round-Up:
Kenny Cox Memorial Tournament
North Salem’s Maximus Rodriguez finished third at 190. Yandel Basham (106)Juan Baltacar(144), Abraham Reyna (157), Deacon Odom (165) finished fourth
RJ Chacon (138, fifth) Hawk Miller (120, 6th) and Roberto Garibay Iii (285) finished sixth all placed.
Central’s Mason Vela finished second at 190 pounds.Josiah Vela finished (150), Porter Keeney (215).
Knife River Invitational
The Dallas Girls Wrestling team finished fourth as a team with Polly Oliff (115), Ah Primm McDaniel (120) winning Titles. Marissa McGinnis (105), Sinae Fast (110), Lindsey Faulkner (130) Jenna Rogers (140) Isabella Richey (170)Mahala Collins (190) finished second
Perry Burlison Tournament
Dallas’ Sully Hill (132), Cascade’s Matthew Hinkle (215) and Nicholas Lopez (285) brought home Tournament Titles. Dallas’ Carsen Atterbury (126), Stayton’s Leonardo Michel (144) finished second.
2024 Willie Wilkinson
The Dallas Boys Wrestling team won the Willie Wilkinson tournament Friday with 215.5 points.Alexander Nunez won the 106 weight class.Jonathon Talmadge (132), Lorenzo Romero-Hill (138), Thomas Hess (150) finished second in their respective weight classes.
Willie Wilkinson Girls Tournament
The Cascade Girls Wrestling team won the Team Title with 106.5 team points.Alexis Cruz (111-120), Riley Paden (131-145)Angelica Fantoni (170-183) bringing home Bracket Titles.Lauren Webb finished second (155-165)
Tyrone S Woods Woman`s Tournamanet
Sprague’s Chaya Palomo (100) and Evelyn Wirfs (145) won tournament titles. McNary’s Marlina Martinez (105), Sole Bartlemay (120),Cadence Fineran (135), McKenna Unger (145) as the Celtics won the tournament with 125.5. The Olympians finished fourth.
2024 Deven Dawson Memorial HS Boys
Sheridan’s Joseph Trammell and Alessandro DePiero went 1-2 at 285 pounds.Kennedy’s Bohden Sowa finished second at 132 and Caleb Kline (106)finished third. Santiam’s Carson Childress (144) and Scio’s Colter Traeger (150) finished third.
Battle for the Capital
McKay’s Aileen Paniagua (105), Central’s Liliana Alvarez (140), Gervais’ Ksenia Zepeda (155)and North Salem’s Jennifer Soto (235) all won tournament titles. The Scots finished second as a team with 213 points.
Central Linn Boys Invitational
Gervais’ Jose Santos and Max Cain went 1-2 at 113 pounds. Amity’s Grady Betts (132) won the tournament Title. Amity’s Gavin King (150) and Gervais’ Brayden Lucero (285) finished second.
Central Linn Girls Invitational
Amity saw Crystal Martinez (100), Caden Christiansen (120/125)Tegan Braun (140/145) finish second. Gervais’ Anjeli Zepeda finished second at 130. Jefferson’s Brianne Dabel finished second at 155/158.
