DALLAS, Ore.– Maddi Jones and Rachel Hansen did something incredible on Tuesday afternoon in Dallas’ 8-0 victory over North Eugene.
The two Dragons pitchers combined for a one-hitter.
Jones got things going, getting the start in the circle.  The junior went six innings, striking out 12 batters and allowed her offense to steadily built up their lead.  Dallas built a 6–0 lead after two innings, and Jones extended it further with a two-run home run in the fourth, backed by a defense that stayed locked in throughout.
With two big games this week, Tuesday’s game being one of them with North Eugene coming into the game 5-1, it was a strong start for it.
“I felt like I got the job done.  It wasn’t pretty, but I got the job done,” starts Jones of her outing.  “This felt like a really good game, it felt like a great way to start the week for our first game.”
Hansen came in for Jones in the top half of the seventh inning.  Hansen missed all of last season with an ankle injury, and in her one inning of work, the senior turned a one, two, three inning to close out the game and closed out the one-hitter in the 8-0 shutout victory.
“It felt good seeing Rachel come in and do her job,” said Jones of her teammate.
Jones and Kadence Tullock both led Dallas with three hits each.  Jones drove in a game-high three runs with Ruby Halligan driving in another two in the victory.  Dallas travels to play Central Catholic on Friday at the NE Sports Complex.
